Practice & Internship 2024 @Ubitech Construcții5 min. de citit
In 2024, students from the Technical University of Civil Construction in Bucharest, the Politehnica University of Bucharest, and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca had new practice and internship opportunities at Ubitech Construcții, one of the most digitalized and automated construction companies in Romania, part of Leviatan Group.
The practice and internship programs were designed to give students a clear picture of what it means to work in the construction industry. They are organized so that students can follow the evolution and development of real projects in stages. To make the students’ experience as enjoyable and future oriented as possible, Ubitech specialists offer them cutting-edge equipment and software.
Practice
Launched in mid-June, Ubitech’s practice program at Ubitech has allowed students to assimilate new knowledge about Design & Build projects right from the start. The future engineers learned BIM design and execution, got involved in real projects, discovered different 3D scanning technologies, and had an immersive experience through Virtual & Mixed Reality glasses.
Extremely useful in training future engineers, the site visits allowed them to explore the construction of an administrative pavilion in real time, where Ubitech specialists showed them the advantages of innovations in increasing efficiency and quality in the construction industry. The HoloLens 2 headset opened new learning perspectives for the students, who were able to analyze the 3D model of the pavilion under construction. In this way, they understood the importance of integrating technological innovations and how these digital tools facilitate improved accuracy and efficiency in executing such projects.
The practice program also included many exciting presentations for the students. It gave them access to several cutting-edge technologies that Ubitech specialists are equipped with so that future engineers can familiarize themselves with modern equipment and working methods. They could see fixed and mobile scanners, drones, georadar, GNSS equipment, and robotized total stations for field data collection. At the same time, they learned about the products of field data processing and how they are integrated into Autodesk software.
In the Settlement Department, students learned how to extract quantities from 3D models using Navisworks software and how to draw up job attachments. Through the BIM 360 platform, they were able to identify the work carried out on-site based on markups and daily logs.
In the Procurement Department, future engineers learned how to read strength plans, identify reinforcement marks, perform strength quantity calculations, analyze contracts, and use our ERP platform for material procurement.
In the Bid Department, students discovered how to create work estimates, check invoices, understand a performance guarantee, and distinguish between preventive and corrective maintenance.
During the practice program, the students made remarkable progress. They achieved excellent results, undoubtedly opening new opportunities for growth and learning.

Internship
The internship was the next stage that Ubitech specialists prepared for the students to offer them more perspectives on integration into the labor market.
Several Technical University of Civil Engineering students in Bucharest enrolled in this program. Also, a student from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca joined it and explored the execution process at one of Leviatan Group’s construction sites in Câmpia Turzii. This way, the students gained valuable experience in a dynamic and creative environment focused on continuous development and cutting-edge technologies.
Moreover, the internship program accommodated a student from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Bucharest who had the opportunity to use her knowledge in the HR Department. At the end of the internship, she joined the Leviatan Group team, along with two other UTCB students.

"During the internship program, I familiarized myself with the recruitment process and the analysis of personnel files. During the internship, I had the support of my mentor, who supported me with everything. This internship helped me to take a step forward in my future career"

Construction Technician
"At ConstructFEST 2024, I discovered the potential of Ubitech, an environment focused on digitalization and innovation, which I wanted to be part of. In June 2024, I followed the internship program at Ubitech and joined this team. During the internship, I had the opportunity to understand the workflow in a site support office and use new software, which simplifies and optimizes work processes. Since then and until now, I have continued to develop professionally, gaining experience and knowledge essential for the construction industry"

Construction TechnicianIn the Settlement Department, students have learned how to perform detailed calculations of quantities of works executed and extract quantities from 3D models using Navisworks. Also, the Tendering-Contracts Department drew up the statement of work. They familiarized themselves with the bidding process for tenders. In the Procurement Department, they placed orders for materials and learned how to draw up contracts in the internal platform.
The students who graduated particularly appreciated the advanced software they worked with, the collaborative working environment, and the constant support from mentors who helped them learn new skills.
