Advanced solutions and technologies in construction, presented by Leviatan Group at InnoConstruct 20244 min. de citit

The INNOCONSTRUCT 2024 – Solving the digital puzzle in Construction Conference, organized by Cluster TEC, with the support of our group of companies, took place between 29-30 May 2024, and featured unique presentations held by our specialists.
The event brought together academic experts, construction specialists, and representatives of public authorities, who talked about innovative solutions and efficient practices in this sector.

The specialists of our group of companies shared their know-how in the “BIM in practice” and “Digital tools and innovative technologies in construction” panels, and participated in the discussions that took place in the “Digital transformation in practice” workshop.
Also, several team members offered attendees an immersive experience at the Leviatan Group booth at InnoConstruct, with our HoloLens 2 and Meta Quest 3 headsets.

BIM in practice

Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Group, spoke in the “BIM in practice” panel about the digitalization of field surveys, the performance of NavVis VLX2 and GeoSLAM equipment, and the implementation of the BIM process, introducing one of our projects.

The project included the construction of an administrative pavilion, and it is the second project in our group of companies’ portfolios in which the BIM process was implemented from start to finish, from the concept phase to the design phase. The process also included collaborative working, site surveys, and pre-construction georadar surveys to trace existing systems.

“After completing the design phase of this project, we already had several best practices for the Digital Twin and Technical Support departments in the execution phase. We are scanning during the execution certain predefined phases, collecting data about the construction history. More precisely, we are scanning after developing the structure, the systems, and so on, until all the architectural elements are in place. After these scans, we have automatically generated quality reports through which, between the 3D model and the reality in the field, our software performs a geometrical compliance analysis and issues quality compliance reports,” explained Cătălin Podaru.

Digital transformation in practice

The “Digital Transformation in Practice” workshop was an excellent opportunity to further explore the ideas and solutions presented in the first panel of the event. On this occasion, Romina Posea, Head of Process Planning and Continuous Improvement Office – Leviatan Group, explained what the digital transformation process of an organization involves, and the challenges encountered in this journey, presenting some effective practices applied in our group of companies.

In addition, during the presentation, Cristina Ilie, Head of Digital Twin, Topography and Advanced Telemetry Department – Leviatan Group, highlighted the advantages that NavVis VLX2 and GeoSLAM scanners offer to our specialists, and Beatrice Băluță-Siclitaru, Head of Architecture Department – Leviatan Group, described how the design process is performed in some of our projects including Building Seismic Risk Consolidation in Bucharest.

Cutting-edge equipment used by Leviatan Group specialists, presented in a PRO TV report

The general interest in the field of construction is increasing, which was also highlighted in a report produced by PRO TV, during the conference INNOCONSTRUCT 2024 – Solving the digital Puzzle in Construction. Here, many companies, including companies from the Leviatan Group, brought valuable know-how and insights.

Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Group, spoke in the report about the importance of using advanced technologies for scanning and analyzing data from construction sites, to increase design performance and reduce the risk of errors. When working in the BIM system, engineers can generate quality compliance reports automatically for increased efficiency.

“These augmented reality glasses follow eye movements and transpose the 3D projected elements into real space, and this high-performance LIDAR scanner allowed my colleagues to scan 20 buildings in just 25 days,” explained Cătălin Podaru.

The creativity of future construction specialists, supported in the Hackathon competition

Hackathon, a competition for students, organized as part of the InnoConstruct event, showcased the creativity of future construction specialists. The student teams presented a joint project of architecture, structure and systems.

For the second year in a row, Giulia, Construction Design Engineer in the Structural Engineering Office at Leviatan Design, who is currently following the master’s program in Structural Engineering, was among the winners of the Hackathon organized as part of the InnoConstruct event.
