Ubitech Construcții has started work on the Cluj Regional Emergency Hospital2 min. de citit

Ubitech Construcții has officially commenced works on the Cluj Regional Emergency Hospital, a project inaugurated during the groundbreaking ceremony held on May 18, 2024, in the presence of several state officials.

Currently, Ubitech is carrying out the first phase of this ambitious project. The scope includes site setup, rough earth excavation, utility network relocation, temporary access road arrangements, construction of a watertight enclosure with diaphragm walls, retaining walls with bored piles, and preparatory works for expanding the site setup in the next phase, which will be tendered for the actual construction of the hospital.

“We are here to deliver. So far, we’ve contributed to critical infrastructure projects, and thanks to our team’s professionalism, we’ve stayed on schedule—sometimes even ahead of it. We take this project seriously, and I assure you that, beyond our professional and contractual obligations, we’re also deeply motivated by the importance of participating in projects we’ll proudly tell our grandchildren about. Ubitech, as part of the Leviatan Group, believes in technology. I commend ANDIS for including some of the most advanced requirements in BIM implementation in the tender specifications. We have already deployed the platform and are confident that, with these modern technologies, we’ll meet all performance expectations,” said Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Group.

The Cluj Regional Emergency Hospital is set to become the main care center for critical and complex medical cases in the North-West region of Romania. With a capacity of 849 beds, it will offer comprehensive medical services: 336 surgical beds, 343 for medical care, 64 for pediatrics and obstetrics-gynecology, 82 intensive care beds (10 for pediatric patients), as well as specialized areas for neonatal intensive care and burn treatment. The hospital will also house a dedicated cardiology center, a fully integrated surgical unit with 22 operating theaters, and facilities for day care and day surgery.

“Hospitals are now being built not only faster but also to higher standards. Around 20 hospitals under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan are either under construction or set to begin shortly. Progress is happening in Romania, and the quality of healthcare is visibly improving. We build with professionalism and responsibility—for our communities and for the people,” said Alexandru Rafila, Minister of Health.

Upon completion, the hospital will cover a total built area of 184,013 sqm, with the main building spanning 176,638 sqm across eight levels (G + G + 5E + rooftop) and equipped with a heliport. The total land area designated for the project is 143,064 sqm.
